Quick Start Guide

Transform your existing mind maps into visual Figma diagrams or export your FigJam creations to universal formats. This guide will get you up and running with the Mind Map Importer/Exporter Plugin in minutes.

Installation through Figma Community

Let's get the Mind Map Plugin into your Figma or FigJam files:

  1. Find the Plugin: Head over to the Figma Community. You can directly access the Mind Map Importer/Exporter Plugin here: 🧠 Discover Mind Map Plugin (opens in a new tab).
  2. Install: Click Try it out to install the plugin.
  3. Choose Your File: Open the plugin in a recent file or start with a new Figma/FigJam file.

Note: Ensure you have 'can edit' permissions on the file for adding or modifying content with plugins.

Installation through Figma UI

  1. Access Your Plugin: In Figma, go to Plugins in the toolbar menu, then select Browse all plugins. Search for "Mind Map Importer/Exporter" or find it in 'Recently used'.

  2. Install to Your Workspace: Click the plugin to install it to your current workspace.

Importing Your First Mind Map

Import Process:

  1. Open the plugin and navigate to the Import tab
  2. Click to select your mind map file (supports .mm, .xmind, .opml, .mmap, .mind, .csv, .json)
  3. Choose your preferred layout: Top-Bottom, Left-Right, or Center-Out
  4. Click Import to generate your visual mind map with connected sticky notes

Exporting to Other Formats

Export Process:

  1. Select the mind map nodes you want to export in your Figma/FigJam file
  2. Open the plugin and switch to the Export tab
  3. Choose your desired format (Markdown, OPML, FreeMind, CSV, or JSON)
  4. Your file will download automatically
