Troubleshooting
File won't open?
- FreeMind files are XML-based, so you can open them in a text editor to check if the file is corrupted
- Try different software if one tool fails
Encoding issues?
- Try changing encoding from UTF-8 to iso-8859-1 if you see character display problems
Large files slow?
- Consider splitting large mind maps before importing
- Some tools perform better with smaller file sizes
Alternative: Direct FreeMind Use
If import doesn't work, you can still use the original FreeMind software:
- Download FreeMind from SourceForge
- Install and run FreeMind
- Open your .mm files directly
- Export to other formats if needed
